A Brief History of Meadowood

The Baker Family, Calvin, Sr., Calvin, Jr., and wife Nancy, built, designed, and operated Meadowood Nursing Center, opening on Valentine's Day, 1992. The land is nestled in a quiet, residential area in Clearlake that was originally designed to be a city park.

Our goal then and now is "Professional Service, Family Atmosphere." Meadowood Nursing Center worked in harmony with the regions acute hospitals and clinics and provided health care and rehabilitation services in Southeast Lake County and created approximately one hundred jobs.

The decision to sell the business to the new owners was an easy one. Our new owners: Tim Stewart, CPA, has been affiliated with Meadowood Nursing Center since 1993, and remains our CPA. Cheryl Cole, started with Meadowood in 2004 as the Social Service Director, then Assistant Administrator in 2006, and is now Administrator. Just like the Bakers, Tim and Cheryl, are committed to maintaining the "Family Atmosphere and Professional Service."

Sharing Smiles and Joy

Beverly Rowe and Glenn Rowe, in their 80s, have been bringing their registered therapy dogs to Meadowood for over 20 years. The dogs love to visit with the residents and staff also enjoy them. Over the years, the Rowes have had Papillions and Long-coated Chihuahuas. Currently, the dogs visiting every week are Penny, Cindy, and Magic, who ride in their baskets carried by Beverly and Glenn.

Residents eagerly await the little dogs each week, to see their delightful dresses and costumes, with Beverly in color-coordinated clothes.
